In 2005, in honor of the 50th anniversary of its publication, a news reporter press.com wrote a column about the book A GIFT OF THE SEA by Anne Morrow Lindberg.

Lindberg, mentioned in a previous blog post, was the wife of famed aviator Charles Lindberg, and was a woman of all time in its own right.

His book was described by the reporter as a series of meditations and essays Lindberg where he reflects on the various stages of the life of a woman. At each stage, the author compares with a different seashell. The work, considered both philosophical and poetic, inspired largely by a brief stay in Sanibel and Captiva Islands.

Today, women from various backgrounds and ages who read the book are touched and inspired by him.

Lindberg words not only inspire, guide the reader in the way of life at sea, and by analogy, how we experience life.

The following extract from a gift from the sea, often cited, emphasizes the importance of living the sea and its wealth of leisurely manner: "The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. To dig for treasures shows not only impatience and greed, but lack of faith. Patience, patience, patience, is what teaches the sea. Patience and faith. One must be empty, open, free election, as a beach waiting for a gift of the sea ".

The lesson here is that if we wait, not seeking, not seeking, but stay still and let the good come to us, we will be rewarded.

The same is true of the general experience of Sanibel.

Sanibel can be an asset or liability destination destination. If you decide to visit the island during the week of Passover, April 11 at 18, you can do anything, or you can explore, in bicycle, boat, fish and collect shells.

The festival is also a time to take the kids to the real special game, an Easter egg hunt. The Spring Easter Egg Hunt was held in the historic village and gardens of the museum and other sites on the island.

So sit back and let the island come to you, or come to find the joy of Sanibel. Either way, you will have many gifts and many memories to treasure forever.
