Can you save money by using fractional ownership? The marketing of fractional ownership to date has focused on a certain kind of development, ie super-resorts loaded luxury facilities and services at a very high cost. This is not all that should be about. In many ways, is potentially more beneficial for people without a lot of money.
In most cases "fractional" ownership has meant taking the concept of timeshare and what is 10 times more expensive! However, the need for fractional ownership is created (in all income levels) by people who do not want to spend much money on its assets leisure. Even for the rich, the cost of a luxury ski home in Aspen or the latest super-vessel going to hurt. So if you're rich you can bring down the cost of ownership your luxury yacht or property of Florida real first. For the rest of us can be used to reduce the cost of ownership of some more mundane items!
Forget about anything you think you know about fractional ownership and consider the following:
A. Think of something you would like to have or use, but can not be luxury (which has to be something that you need not use all the time). The types of things would be active leisure (second homes, yachts, boats, caravans / vehicles recreational tents), business equipment (expensive and the machines occasionally used), or functional elements, such as a garden tractor.
B. Assess how much it would cost if you are buying. If you had bought something used then use this no cost, the new price.
C. Note how many people could actually share the use of this asset. When working it has to think about whether the asset has a popular station (eg summer property by the beach, New Year for second homes in ski resorts).
Now divide B by T C. Doesn 'that make your purchase proposal seems more affordable? There is no reason why the division of property has to be about luxury (although very nice). You can save considerable money as well. Consider the following examples:
1: A family with a limited budget like to save money on your vacation (or even afford to go to one) for camping. The problem is that a full camping facility for a family of 5 is not cheap if you do not have much money. The solution would be divided to share the cost with 2 other families in your local area. They would each be able to go on vacation in the summer school and take turns in using the computer for the rest of the summer.
Example 2: If you like Yachting why not look at a fraction of a yacht used. This can really bring Yachting / navigation within reach of many people. This was exactly the kind of regime that I got involved with the age of 18!
Conclusion
I am not suggesting that fractional ownership schemes Luxury is a bad idea, in fact I think they put some of the really fancy places accessible to many more people. I just want to present the view that fractional ownership also be used further down the scale of values that actually save money in low-income people and make your life much more enjoyable.
