While people planning a vacation in Florida, are often concentrated in places like Walt Disney World, Miami Beach and Palm Beach, miles of white sandy beaches which lie along both the Atlantic Coast and Gulf Coast of Florida. Unlike other beaches of the Atlantic Coast, stretches of sandy Florida has actually enlarged rather than diminished, due to erosion. If you were to walk from the beaches of Florida, at a rate of one mile per day, you would be enjoying beaches more than two years. Although this sounds like a nice way to visit the beaches of the state, for most people this is not feasible. In contrast, most choose to visit the most important beaches, arriving by car and spend a day of beach combing, wildlife watching, or simply enjoy the sun and water.

Only some of the Atlantic beaches of Florida is shown here. Some are well known, others are extensions type of shelter from the beach where you can walk miles without seeing another person. Traveling from the north to the southern tip of the state, here are some favorite beaches.

Jacksonville / Amelia Island / AMERICAN BEACH

Beaches in this area are generally wide and sandy. They are usually full of sand dunes and have a rich history and natural locations in birds Huguenot Memorial Park and Fort Clinch State Park. Most beaches in this area do not require access tags. Beaches are of special interest near Jacksonville and Little Talbot Island State Park. American Beach is a famous historical and cultural landmark. Founded in 1920 by Abraham Lincoln Lewis, is a mecca for blacks throughout the South as a place of vacation.

Accommodation and food are abundant in the special zone along the main north-south route. You can find everything from Victorian Tearooms to evolution in the use skyscraper in this section of the coast.

DAYTONA BEACH / NEW SMYRNA BEACH

This 23 miles of the central North Atlantic coast is known for its fascinating mix of lively action and quiet stretches of beach ideal for family holidays. Most communities have streets that provide access to the beach. Ormond-By-The-Sea is an example of the largely residential community of beach where you can enjoy the sand and surf. Ormond Beach is the location of birth Speed Park, where the first timed test of America took place.

Daytona Beach, of course, is well known for its emphasis on the racing action, but this beach has an old promenade, pedestrian and many areas only fishing for surfing and para-sailing.

Canaveral National Seashore provides an environment of barrier island with over twenty miles of undeveloped beach. You can visit the Casa Eldora Historic Site and the Turtle Mound archaeological site.

There are plenty of accommodation along this stretch, ideal for families with children and couples also homeless.

PALM BEACH

The beaches are wide and flat, bordered of swaying palm trees and sparkling white sand. This stretch is a nesting area for sea turtles. Until recently, Jupiter Beach has been known only by dunes sand covered with sea grapes and Australian pines. Now he is on track to be a first class tourist area with developed beach areas, some areas for wheelchair access wheel, plus a lot of well-appointed living accommodation and trendy restaurants where you can find any cuisine you want.

Many of the beaches in this area feature lifeguards, picnic areas, nature trails, boardwalks and even where you can enjoy skating or bicycling.

Although we know that Palm Beach itself mainly as a playground for the rich, can be found both in the area for families on a budget too. Anyone considering buying a recreational activity will be sure to enjoy this stretch of Florida's Atlantic Coast.

FORT LAUDERDALE

Known long as the destination for college students on spring break bound winter in the north campus, the character has changed in Fort Lauderdale recent years. Strict monitoring of the miles of hot sand in the area have led to the beaches once again suitable for families and young children. The wavewall and the walk along the beach is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the old city.
