Holidays – Where do I stand with this scenario?

In January my family booked a vacation for the whole summer in Florida (as we do most of the summer). We have paid a security deposit to secure your reservation ($ 500) and then shortly after that paid half the total price rent .. with the final average to be paid the week before we left. The village was chosen from many as to substance and carefully selected for location, etc. We have had today a letter from the booking agent to say that due to unforeseen circs. Villa is no longer AVAILBLE (the owner wants to use it). We have been reassigned another villa for the same price, etc, but we have to arrive 3 days later. We had booked the flights, etc so we had to change our flights costing $ 200 fee. Its OK and all, but are the rental company (which are like an agent) can only do it when we had paid and booked a villa arent getting real now?

Do you have the original lease? If so, read the fine print, specifically the annotations about about changes or cancellations. I take Air fares change with the rental agency and insist that absorbed the price of the new town. Those charges were incurred as a result of a failure of the agency and must be willing to absorb, especially if this is an annual function for you – there is no substitute for repeat business and bad word of mouth is the worst form of advertising any business.
