Something that I think Americans have a problem with is vacation. While most of us feel fortunate to have a week off or a few days here and there is not uncommon for Americans to take vacations like our European or Australian counterparts that can take as long as a month's vacation at a time. Sure, we enjoy a time off work to recover, but I think the problem here is that Americans do not know how to relax. While others take the time to study culture a different locale, Americans rush from one place to another taking photos on the road. If you've ever seen the movie, "If Tuesday, this must be Belgium "You know what I mean. Our frenetic pace is bewildering to foreigners who do not understand why we do not take the time to really enjoy the local scenery.

Part of our problem is our multicultural society that has made us a bit more competitive than most. We are always trying to stay one step ahead of our competitors, our coworkers and our neighbors. When we take the time off, we're never too far from a phone and the Internet. I'm as guilty as anyone in this regard, I do not think it was unplugged from e-mail since the 1980s. Being in Florida, always laugh when I see someone in the beach working diligently on her laptop. I'm sure you are not appreciating the landscape and for all purposes that could very well be in the office. I think the reason why we're so afraid that something might go wrong if you can not be contacted to answer questions or solve a problem.

Americans rarely have two-week vacation. The last one was years ago had my honeymoon with my wife. The first week was fine, but in the second week I was becoming itchy again to work. We can even start feeling guilty for taking so much time. No wonder that Americans are the masters of the past long weekend instead of taking vacation true.

When you decide to take a vacation and we want to see something new or something familiar that rarely have the opportunity to appreciate. As for me, fly fishing is in Montana. Regardless of where you really want to go, inevitably have to deal with family commitments. For those of you who have moved away from home, you know exactly what I mean. Is expected to return year after year with the children to eat what your precious vacation days. Instead of visiting Las Vegas or the Caribbean, is in Chillicothe, Ohio. Such is the price for leaving the city.

The concept of vacation is to relax, expand our horizons, and refocus, so we'd better workers. But because of our obsession with being connected to work and our competitiveness, I do not know how to relax and vacation often consider it a waste of time. As an aside, Have you ever met someone who proudly proclaims that he has not taken a vacation in a number of years? Somehow reminds me of the proverb, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. "

Instead of taking a vacation from truth, I know a lot of people who prefer not to waste time and the use of a virtual reality simulator as used in the Schwarzenegger movie "Total Recall". This can be nice, but again I do not think truth that nothing can simulate the capture of a murderer trout in the icy waters of the Flathead River in Montana.
