As summer approaches, parents everywhere are starting to think of "summer vacation". Vacations can be fun, educational and provide lasting memories for years to come, the trick is, find the right one. Whether you are looking for a day trip or a month long ski tour background, here are some tips to help make that decision a little easier.

Sometimes simple things are the most fun. When we were children, we are left to our own devices to entertain ourselves for a good part of summer. If you can not afford a two week trip or have no public The Hotel has pool, a day trip to the toy store can do wonders. You could get some water guns, balloons that fill with water and other water toys that connect to a garden hose for an afternoon of fun in the backyard. The day trip can easily be converted into a day trip / 2 days. Perhaps you and your children want to spend more than one day in the city? You can find hotels, low cost to stay in and make a weekend trip full of your visit.

Road trips can be fun too. Why fly to your destination when can make a vacation out of the trip itself? If you live in the Northeast and want to go to Disney World in Florida, you can drive along the coast and visit some places in between. There a lot of historic sites and national parks to see. Why fly over them when you can stop and explore for yourself? In fact, you can rent store in an RV and finding accommodation on the road.

Of course the theme parks are always the number one destination for kids. They all want go to Disney Land, Sea World, Busch Gardens, Six Flags and many others. There's more to life than theme parks and if you go on vacation for over a week, there is no reason why can not work in some education with fun. Plan a day or two in the park and then go visit other sites as well.

Vacation specialized are fun too. Do you and your family enjoy diving? Or maybe like hiking or rock climbing or ATV? You can expand on any of your hobbies and turn them into a vacation. Camping ATV is a hot activity now that roads are being opened every day. Most resorts also offer specialized activities such as scuba diving or rock climbing along the instruction for beginners of all ages. Ranches can be fun and also give your child an idea of what life might be like on a ranch or working with horses.
