Palm Beach is not just exclusive residential enclaves of millionaire beach houses in winter, nor is it only about shopping for wildly expensive designer labels in exclusive boutiques. The region has more to offer than just a look at the lifestyles of the rich and famous.

The city is synonymous with world-class beaches, great golf, tennis, canoeing and diving. There are over 150 golf courses and over 1,100 tennis courts on the beach in the precincts of Palm County. Two golf courses are open to the public are Palm Beach Public Golf Course on the island and Emerald Dunes Golf Course in West Palm Beach.

Palm Beach is a popular destination for divers as they can reach the reef off shore using boats operating guide of the local marinas. As with nearly all destinations Florida Beach, Palm Beach offers many opportunities for water sports such as sailing boat, jet-skiing, kayaking, water skiing, para-sailing and fishing.

The luxury mansion commissioned by Henry Flagler (railroads and the oil tycoon) as a wedding gift to his third wife is now the famous Flagler Museum. The mansion with 55 rooms furnished with European antique pieces in a variety of themes and styles, is known as the Taj Mahal of North America. "The mansion was situated in magnificent grounds, the highlight of which is Mr. Flagler restored private railway carriage.

The Norton Museum of Art, opened in 1941, is now world famous for its permanent collection and the quality of its exhibitions. The screen displays the art collection of Ralph and Elizabeth Norton and now houses French collection contains works of C? NNE, Degas, Gauguin, Matisse, Monet, Picasso, Pissarro and Renoir. The permanent exhibition also contains paintings by Warhol, Hopper, Pollock and O'Keefe.

A family favorite, especially for younger children, is Playmobil Fun Park with its replica castle and Thematic play areas like a medieval village, a western city and a dollhouse fantasy.

Lion Country Safari contains over 1,300 animals which include elephants, ostriches, wildebeests, antelopes, chimpanzees, American bison, buffalo, flamingos and many other unusual species. The 500 acres of animals is divided into geographic regions ranging from simulated East African Serengeti to the American West.

The park has a caged environment of the United Nations of animals and humans move through the park by motor vehicles along a loop display. Other park attractions include a amusement park with a carousel, paddle boats, mini golf and a popular baby animal nursery. The park offers a great family day out.

El Camino del Lake runs along the side of the island in the Intracoastal Waterway and is a popular cycling route scenery overlooking some of the mansions and grounds, as well as views of City of West Palm Beach.
